Riding through 45°C
A product design question from a product manager interview, set at Dashrun, a fictional delivery / gig work company.

A starting structure
Goal and the business tension first → partners by when and how they ride → pick one segment → an afternoon shift minute by minute → ideas across rest, pay, routing and health → v1 → safety metric with service guardrails
How to approach this case
Ask what success looks like for Dashrun: fewer partners falling ill, keeping partners on the platform, meeting customer demand, or all three. Then look for the tension between them, because the hottest hours may also be the busiest. Segment partners by how and when they ride, for example full-time versus part-time, two-wheeler versus bicycle, afternoon versus evening, rather than by city alone. Pick one segment and give a reason. Walk through an afternoon shift minute by minute, noticing where partners are exposed, where they wait and what stopping would cost them. Ideas should cover more than one lever, such as rest, pay, routing and health. Be clear on who pays for each idea. A strong close names a v1, a north star tied to partner safety, guardrails on delivery service and partner earnings, and the trade-off you are accepting.
