The walk to the desk
A product case question from a product manager interview, set at Tokrify, a fictional quick commerce operations company.
The question
Skills this case tests
A starting metric tree
Orders picked per staff-hour = orders picked ÷ picker staff-hours
How to approach this case
The question has two parts, so answer them in order. For success metrics, start from why the write-off tool exists, choose one primary metric for that purpose, and add counter-metrics for the store work it might slow down. Name that risk before you're asked. For the productivity drop, confirm the definition and check that headcount, order volume, assortment and layout are unchanged. Then split the drop by time of day and by store type, and compare stores that use the tool as designed with any that don't. Picture the store floor: walk step by step through what a picker does now when something unexpected happens mid-order. A strong close weighs the tool's measured gains against the cost of the slowdown, gives a recommendation with a primary metric and a guardrail, and tests the fix in a set of stores against controls.
